Devour Indy
There’s this really cool thing that happens a couple times a year called Devour Indy. A bunch of awesome restaurants create special menus and pairings. We loved the app-two entrees-and-dessert for $45 at Big Lug. Looking forward to when it returns in the summer!
Courtney Barnett
I kinda forgot about Courtney Barnett, even though she was just me of my favorite musicians in the mid-to-late 2010s. Seasons, right? Now is definitely Courtney Barnett. Her mid-tempo rambly rock tunes really soothe my yearning-for-spring soul. Her Apple Music Essentials is the perfect place to start. No duds!
Lafter Life by Boa Constrictors
Here’s another album that could’ve made a rung at my all-time list. The bleeding heart lyrics of emo sprinkled over a Beatles / Beach Boys rock n’ roll. This is one of those artists that deserves much more love. Try out “Knock, Knock” or “Sensitive Guy.
Bird City Review
My buddy Eric just switched this awesome newsletter to Substack. Month after month, I’m impressed by Eric’s ability to translate his beautiful experiences into charming prose. Birding as a person with a disability is the tagline, but really it’s an ongoing story of passion and commitment. I’ve had the honor to bird with this man a few times. He knows his shit and he’s stoked to tell you about it.
Thirst Mutilator by Shorts
I keep seeing all these articles about the booming N/A beverage market. As a person who has to be very careful with alcohol, but still loves having a beverage with buds, I love all the options cropping up. The Lemon Lime Thirst Mutilator by Shorts Brewery is exactly as labeled, a booze-free hop-essenced delight. It’s gonna cost you the same as a six-pack of beer, but it slides into that beer slot perfectly. #worthit
“Bra Off” by RaeLynn
Every once in awhile, a pop song hooks into me. That’s what’s happened with this banger. No shame here. If you ever wondered, I wonder what T-GOB dances to in the shower, then now you know. And yes, I’m a better dancer than everyone in that video.
Self Reliance
This new movie by and starring Jake Johnson on Hulu has everything I like about movies—fever dream feelings, rom-com playfulness, a lot of “What?!” moments, and Boban! This would probably be great with some weed or shroomies. Oh and if your partner falls asleep on the couch and asks you to sum up the second half of the movie, don’t. She’ll never believe you.
Thanks so much for the shout out, brother! I really appreciate it. I also love Courtney Barnett!
