POEMS SECONDS AFTER I INVENTED THE HELICOPTER
The first poem in my collection INVENTED THE HELICOPTER
Honestly the distinction between preface
& introduction escapes me & no inkling
Of itching exists to untangle the unknown.
I am often braced, waiting for a hitch.
Shrewdness, an assumption, glands.
Thank you, yes, make room, this is big.
I was stretched taut, I was twice-baked.
Keep me vulnerable, keep me beautiful.
Like the stale breeze, I crane my neck
As people blow kisses wildly into the air.
Trust God & sin bravely, they told me.
I be not alone with my fruity amygdala.
Forgetting & remembering, O my!
Show me a few ripples in the foundation
& I will show you how much I tremor.
