I will be devastated much like the uncle
Of the baby elephant who has just learned
To control her trunk, no longer swinging it
Wildly through a pasture of birds. The light grows
Tired of being silent, illuminates the block
When you fling a frisbee into a cactus, plant
Carrot sticks to see if they’ll bloom. You two
Magnetic strands of infinity. Your bodies
Will expand and rupture, suture and scream
But the isness that beams from within you
Flits like twinkle lights over the family dinner.
A little salad here, a noodle on a spoon.
I am not a wise man, but I can assure you
The pulse you feel in your sister’s neck
Is the same urge that juts towards living
In your own, my own, mommy, daddy, Aunt B.
these poems are some of my favorite ❤️
